ACTOR JOSE YENQUE NAMED THE RECIPIENT OF HOLA\u2019S 2010 ILKA HUMANITARIAN AWARD<\/strong><\/h2>\n

THE HISPANIC ORGANIZATION OF LATIN ACTORS (HOLA) RECOGNIZES<\/strong> <\/strong>YENQUE\u2019S HUMANITARIAN EFFORTS ON BEHALF OF YOUTH AT ITS 2010 HOLA AWARDS<\/strong><\/p>\n

New York, NY–<\/strong> Jose Yenque, a native New Yorker, was introduced to acting very early in life.\u00a0 With over three decades of experience working successfully in theatre, film and television, he is the recipient of numerous important industry awards. But it is for his humanitarian efforts that he is now being recognized by the Hispanic Organization of Latin Actors (HOLA) with the HOLA ILKA Award.\u00a0 Named after HOLA\u2019s founding president Ilka Tanya Pay\u00e1n, the award is presented to performers who contribute to society through humanitarian efforts.\u00a0<\/p>\n

On October 18th at the Eleventh Annual HOLA Awards, Yenque is being honored for his sustained commitment to youth, including his more than 10 years of dedicated efforts to improve the lives of the orphans of Casa Hogar Sion in Tijuana.\u00a0 He is also the co-creator of a service learning opportunity, \u201cHands Across Our Border,\u201d which has brought together hundreds of university students from the U.S. and Mexico to help meet the needs of this extremely vulnerable group of children.<\/p>\n

Yenque expresses his feelings about being this year\u2019s recipient of the HOLA Ilka Award: “I’m truly grateful to my family, friends, students and all those teachers, role models (and those who will become role models and don’t know it yet) for inspiring me to continue to do what I love to do, for guiding me in this wonderful direction, for helping me realize that everything is possible and that giving back is within all of us.”<\/p>\n

Yenque\u2019s career has seen him co-starring with many of Hollywood\u2019s leading actors.\u00a0 Currently, he is seen in the role of \u201cRobert\u201d opposite Christopher Plummer and Ewan McGregor in the Mike Mills\u2019 <\/em><\/strong>feature film \u201cBeginners.<\/em><\/strong>\u201d<\/em>\u00a0 The film received rave reviews at the recent Toronto Film Fest.<\/p>\n

Among his professional awards are the SAG<\/strong> and the Alma Awards<\/strong> for films such as Steven Soderberg\u2019s Academy Award winning \u201cTraffic\u201d<\/em> <\/strong>opposite Benicio Del Toro,<\/em> HBO\u2019s \u201cThe Blue Diner<\/em>\u201d<\/strong> opposite Miriam Colon and mom Teresa Yenque, and Academy Award winning<\/strong> short film (Student Category) \u201cWednesday Afternoon\u201d<\/em><\/strong>. <\/em>\u00a0He delivered a stand-out performance in Lifetime Network\u2019s<\/strong> thriller \u201cBetween<\/em>\u201d<\/strong> opposite Poppy Montgomery (CBS\u2019 \u201cWithout a Trace\u201d<\/em>) which earned him the 2007 Imagen Award, <\/strong>honoring positive portrayals of Latinos in entertainment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
